I was so excited to read this book because it was about mermaids and after reading Weyward I thought it would be even better. I give it 4 stars because I think if it was a standalone by a different author who hadn’t wrote basically the same book but with witches, I would have enjoyed it more. There were so many points where the book was very slow and I just wanted to skip ahead. I know the stories of the women of the Naiad are important but there was nothing interesting about sitting on a ship for months, starving, stinking, etc. Not sure if I will read another Emilia Hart book after this.
