This was a really well-written shortie. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I did think Xavier was a bit of an asshole.
There were a few things left hanging as well that could have been more fleshed out. Did she ever get her birth certificate? Who was she? How old was she? She could barely read...did she go back to school to get her GED?? What about his asshole family? I find it a bit hard to believe they didn't take issue with him marrying a homeless person!
