I personally didn’t think this book was as good as people talked it up to be. It had some some action, fantasy, and historical fiction, but I just didn’t connect to the characters as well. Jiang and the Lore class are definitely reminiscent of Elodin and the Naming class from Name of the Wind but I like Name of the Wind better. I felt like Nehza’s transformation to friend was very abrupt with no real hard feelings. I kept expecting Rin’s brother to emerge somehow (maybe in a future book?). I felt like Rin being Speerly was very convenient and not really explained so I don’t fully believe it yet.
