Bloom by Kevin Panetta
5.0
I work in a library- we receive ARCs to read and examine as potential additions to our collection upon release.

Bloom is absolutely beautiful and so very human. YA graphic novels can sometimes feel inauthentic in their emotions, but Bloom did a fantastic job at making the characters and what they were experiencing feel real. I've known (or been!) each of these characters in real life. They are flawed and make mistakes, but I never felt exasperated at their mistakes. Again, it felt very human. Even if it was irrational, I knew why the character did what they did, or said what they said. The relationship between Hector and Ari bloomed (sorry, I had to) so slowly and naturally and was a joy to witness.
Wonderful art and equally as good writing. Bloom is definitely one of my new favorite lgbtq romance books.
