Last Summer at the Golden Hotel by Elyssa Friedland

Did not finish book. Stopped at 31%.

I was so ready to love this one. Advertised for fans who love The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and Dirty Dancing, I was so excited. But this novel was a mess IMO and I couldn’t finish it. 

The Goldmans and the Weingolds have been running the Golden Hotel in the Catskills for 60+ years. It was popular in its heyday, as wealthy families from Manhattan would flock to the resort come summer. But the resort is in trouble and the families are a mess. Everyone gathers to discuss selling it and many secrets and dramas unfold. 

There were just too many POVs for me here to enjoy the story telling. I didn’t care about anyone and the pacing was so rushed and jumbled. I didn’t hate this, but I was over 100 pages in and just didn’t care 😬. Life’s too short to read what doesn’t serve you!
