Zero Days by Ruth Ware
3.0

Ruth Ware is reliably good—complicated but not convoluted plots, strong female protagonists, no loose ends or narrative manipulation.

In Zero Days, Jack and Gabe are a married couple who test security for companies. Jack does the footwork while her husband Gabe handles the tech.

Tragedy strikes and Jack has to resolve the mystery.

The opening third drags. The narrator has an annoying habit of repeating info to the reader for emphasis. There’s a gory scene that feels like gore for gore’s sake. None of this spoils the story but it does feel like overkill.

I developed a completely wrong theory abt who was at fault for the central crime that fell apart. I like the kind of book that offers a few credible misdirections.

All in all, a fun read.
