Tapestries of Life: Uncovering the Lifesaving Secrets of the Natural World by Anne Sverdrup-Thygeson

5.0

Wow! What a delightful and entertaining introduction to Ecology. This book is absolutely superb and written incredibly well, both clear and concise. Anne Sverdrup-Thygeson shares her passion and deep knowledge on how us and all of nature is tangled into - what the title deftly calls - a tapestry of life. Each section of the book is packed with amazing and sometimes disgusting stories about nature and how it works, from the avocados method of spreading its seeds to how Brazil nuts cannot be farmed and must be grown wholly in the wild of the forest. But this book as a whole is a sheer joy. I have read plenty of nature writing in my time and Sverdrup-Thygeson is now in my top 3 authors on the topic. Her love of nature is evident on every page and it is infectious. I would definitely recommend it.
