This book definitely surpassed my expectations for being the second in this series.
While it does start off with some slow pacing that quickly picks up in the second half. Even when it was a little slow every decision felt important and influential to the plot in some way. This book did a great job at getting me to connect and care about new characters. The twists while could be predicted sometimes still caught me off-guard.
This book made me happy but also cry. It forced me to rethink what I thought about the love interest. But I’m glad to see some changes in vivi’s character. We not only see her become more mature but also see her take the lead more.

Overall this book was great and I definitely recommend this series to everyone that is interested in fantasy with a subplot of romance.
