R. F. Kuang doesn’t miss. Absolutely incredible, relevant, infuriating, funny (if you don’t laugh you cry funny), dark. Reading this will make you want to scream and then turn the page. This book delves into racism / “I’m not racist” / non-victim-victim narratives brilliantly. I will never stop thinking about this book.
I kept thinking this btch would learn but it just kept getting worse. AND THEN at the end, I was cheering for Candice to knock her ass down those stairs bc btch wt-actual-f!! The added Tw!ttersphere and BookTok mentions made it feel like having a front seat to “book drama”, but knowing the truth from June, and her mental gymnastics to believe this was okay, was so infuriating.
Must read for anyone who cares about books, literature, social issues, or anyone who loves an unbearable protagonist, reality tv/chronically online drama, or R. F. Kuang.
