Very, Very, Very Dreadful: The Influenza Pandemic of 1918
by Albert Marrin
I am a big fan of Albert Marrin's YA history nonfiction, and this one is no exception. I really enjoy how Marrin is able to look at the big picture of events and still able to capture individual experiences. He doesn't just tell you about the event, he provides full context, and this book is a perfect example of why I love everything I have read from him (although I still enjoyed Flesh and Blood So Cheap the most).
Very, Very, Very Dreadful should interest anyone who is interested in reading about epidemics/pandemics, WWI, or early 20th-century history in general. While the book is intended for YA readers, it is still a great look at the influenza pandemic of 1918 for anyone interested in learning more, regardless of age.
