I really enjoyed this book, but there was something about it that just didn't feel complete. I was left wishing aspect of Gallant's history had been explored in greater detail so I could have a better understanding and visualisation of the house that is the centre of this book.
Beyond that, this is a classic Schwab book. Beautifully written characters, vivid emotions, and tense scenes that viscerally resonate with the reader. I could actually see it being a movie, and now I want that to happen. It probably won't be my favourite of hers, but still a very good addition to her body of work.
