Diaries, 1915-1918 by Cynthia Asquith

4.0

I really enjoyed this book. C.A. writes very well. It was an absorbing picture of leisured society as it hit its first real shock: WWI. Also, interesting (view) of the homefront, especially since C.A> was daughter-in-law to the P.M. (prior to Lloyd-George). It made me want to go read a bio of Asquith though I haven't yet [and still haven't as of 2019]. Amazing how busy she can feel when she doesn't have a job, and has someone to do all her housecleaning, cooking, and child-rearing for her. Supposedly she published a series of memoirs, which I would like to acquire.
