4.5
challenging informative mysterious slow-paced

Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this. I picked up The House of Gucci with the intent of finishing the book so I could compare it to the movie (which I only wanted to watch because Adam Driver is in it.) I also don’t usually pick up nonfiction so the fact that I enjoyed this is a big deal. This book is expertly researched and does a fantastic job of giving the reader insight as to what these peoples personalities were really like. This book was so thrilling, I enjoyed the family drama and reading about the business growing— I got really invested.

This book was really good, but my reason for giving it 4.5 stars is as follows:
There are a ridiculous amount of characters in this book- many people are mentioned once, some stick around for a page and other longer— but I feel that many of these people (those who aren’t Guccis and we’re only around for a short while) we’re not at all necessary to include in the story. There were also a bunch of random time skips involving scenes with characters who had already died with no mention of a time skip happening— they were just there.
At a whopping 503 pages the book also felt reallyyyy sense at times and was hard to pick up. I did finish it in 4 days— but usually I actually finish books quicker.
