Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear
1.0
I give up. This is not for me. its going in the DNF. I did not complete the book, but I most definitely had time to form an opinion. I am almost halfway in, and there is no possible way I could care less about all these clichéd characters or Winspear's meticulously reported research. I just don't get it at all. If one more person says "Bob's yer uncle" or "A nod's as good as a wink!" I am going to lose it. It's as if the book is wholly populated by Dick van Dyke's character in Mary Poppins.
ETA: Someone just asked me if I had read the Maisie Dobbs books, and nearly 3 years after I wrote this I had a passionate and violent reaction. England should sue for libel for this one.
