The Accidental
by Ali Smith
challenging
mysterious
slow-paced
The Accidental was kind of a disappointment. Having read three quarters of the seasons quartet I was expecting a bit more of a meaning/theme from this novel. And there really wasn’t one that I could tell.
I mean, Smith’s writing is beautiful, but I was confused on what I was supposed to understand from the character dynamics and the characters and plot themselves. I guess the main point of the story is that almost all the characters are unlikeable and they get what they deserve in the end? I’m not sure.
