Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt

funny informative mysterious reflective

4.25

I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend the audiobook- the narrator did a good job with the Southern drawl of the characters. The story was interesting and surprisingly funny. The descriptions are wonderfully rich.

It is true crime, but the first section is just an introduction to the wacky and weird cast of characters, so the book feels more like a written account of the author’s experiences in Savannah (that happens to include a murder trial) rather than strictly a true crime deep dive.
