I like to think of it as a Pirates love story if we ever got Dave’s Jone’s love story with Calypso but with fae people. It’s definitely a romance in a fantasy world but I enjoyed the magical elements and environment without hindrance. The yearning was supported with a cause but with a bit of hatred mixed in. The only complaint is with some of the character’s development. I think Erik’s torture not being of the earth’s fae doing was just so there’s no real conflict and felt like a cop out. It undid all of the repair and trust building the whole first half or so did. It would’ve been more powerful if it had just remained the earth fae’s doing, but I didn’t read the before story so…
Graphic: Death, Sexual content, Torture, Blood, Murder, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Body shaming, Death
Minor: Kidnapping
