Never Lie by Freida McFadden
4.0

In Never Lie, newlyweds Tricia and Ethan are on their way to view a remote house, once owned by the missing psychiatrist Dr. Adrienne Hale, when a snowstorm forces them to stay there overnight. Inside, Tricia finds the doctor’s old therapy tapes. As she listens, disturbing secrets come to light, and the truth turns out to be far more dangerous than she expected.

As part of my book club, I recently read Never Lie and I absolutely loved it! The plot, the tension, the twist… it completely pulled me in.

It was my first Freida McFadden book, and honestly, why didn’t I pick up her work sooner? Her writing is super readable and addictive. I flew through it.

I really liked the addition of the audio recordings. They gave the story a spooky vibe and helped keep the pace up. Ethan definitely gave me the creeps, while I actually grew to like Tricia.

The whole time I thought I knew where the story was going, but that twist at the end? Didn’t see it coming at all.

I do have to say: once you know how it ends, not everything makes sense. It feels like the reader is being tricked too, but then again, the title Never Lie might’ve hinted at that already.

Overall, this is a super engaging thriller full of surprises. I’ll definitely be checking out more of Freida’s books!
