Holy cow what a debut! Such rich world building and characters, I truly enjoyed getting to know these characters and their messed up world. I was particularly drawn in by the question of villainy vs heroism, and the motives that drive our characters. Does a divine duty driving a characters sins excuse them? How much do you owe someone who saves your life? Can you punish someone for the same act you’ve committed, even if you are the victim this time? I love the world building, with dimensions and gates and a variety of languages/cultures. Fantastic.
