Gemina by Jay Kristoff, Amie Kaufman
3.0

I so badly wanted to love this. Illuminae was sooo good and I knew it would be hard to follow it up. Illuminae was action-packed, with strong characters (female and male), and a twist I didn't see coming. Gemina was all of these things too, actually it was exactly every single one of these things, almost like reading the same story over again, but Kady was Hannah and Ezra was Nik. As much as I loved Illuminae, doing the same storyline over again made Gemina super predictable. The traitor was so obvious and just when (spoiler alert!) you think one character is dead, you find out it's a farce - the only difference was this one involved a wormhole. This book would be really great if was reading it for the first time, but it felt like I was reading it for a second. Here's hoping the third (and last?) one isn't a threepeat.
