Ellis Peters’ Brother Cadfael historical mystery series has been on my TBR list for a long while and “A Morbid Taste for Bones,” the first book, is a great beginning. Set in the 12th century, Welsh-born Brother Cadfael is a monk and an excellent detective, serving with his brothers at the Abbey in Shrewsbury, England. Cadfael is a late comer to the monastic life and has had quite a colorful life, which adds so much to his character. I actually found all the characters to be highly believable and the story is full of humor, sarcasm, and a little irreverence!
