In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado

5.0

This book was so good. Experimental, powerful and heart wrenching.
It’s a memoir that tells the story of an abusive relationship through snippets of life and analogous research.
I had put this book off for a while thinking ‘memoir’ didn’t really resonate with me, but it reads more like a friend telling you a story with ebbs and flows of relevance that, when you take a step back, paint the full picture.
