The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg

“Found this on the seat of my sleigh. Fix that hole in your pocket.” Signed, “Mr. C.”

When I was in grade school the Kindergartners did a musical production of The Polar Express. The film had just come out, so I reckon that’s where we got most of our material and songs from. I don’t remember much about it or if I even had a part in the thing, but what I do remember is that our teacher read us this story once during story time and I really liked it.

Rereading it again as an adult was so much fun. Who doesn’t love a train ride to the North Pole on Christmas Eve? I found it funny that all of the kids had their jammies on whilst they were out and about at the Pole. There’s elves and Reindeer and Santa’s Sleigh! But don’t you think those kids were freezing? That’s a lot of to do just for the first gift of Christmas, but like can the other kids who haven’t gotten anything yet go back into the warm train?

Seriously though, it’s a great children’s story and a great Christmas story.
