Athena's Child by Hannah Lynn

3.0

this was a nice quick read to scratch my mythology itch. this is a retelling of medusa and perceus. I don't think I've read the actual myth but I knew the general story.
when I was skimming the discussion questions at the end of the book, I saw that it said something about how this "feminist retelling". while it does give Medusa more background story and more grace about the origins of her curse, I don't feel this is very "feminist". She does act as a priestess of Athena who helps beaten women and children but halfway through the book, it filps to Percus and his origin story. before she dies, it is made out that Perceus is doing her a favor by ending her suffering. he says that he will bring the true story of Medusa to the world but in the end, he ends up dying with the true story.
so is this really for the girlie pops or.....
