The Last Laugh by Mindy McGinnis

Spoilers!

I hate to say it, but I didn’t love this book. Kermit’s arc was just not doing it for me, I didn’t feel compelled by him as a character and he felt very formulaic to me. I also just wasn’t as hooked by the plot with this one as there was zero mystery left to be solved, as Kermit explains pretty much everything in his very first chapter. I missed the thrill of The Initial Insult, with the equally engaging alternating POV’s and flashbacks and intricate mystery.

However, it did give me some closure from the first book. I was praying the whole time that Felicity would be rescued and am so happy with how that played out. She and Tress are both seriously fucked up and I didn’t except a BFF reunion, but I’m glad they have an understanding now. And although I wish the reveal was more spread out in this book, I am glad that the details of the disappearance were revealed because being so close at the end of the first boom and not knowing was KILLING me.

Also RIP Hugh, he was a dick sometimes but he was also kind a lot of the time, and no one deserves to die like that — seriously this book was gory as hell. Really horrifying stuff tbh tbh
