The Push by Ashley Audrain

well… this was a lot for a twenty-something woman who’s currently in the, “so when are you having kids” stage of life. it was a fairly predictable thriller that did a really good job (imo) at exploring the nuances of motherhood and generational trauma. it was candid and raw as it addressed the expectations that are put on women to be not only mothers, but “good mothers”. however, i experienced a lot of emotional whiplash with this one as i bounced between stress and boredom and just general feelings of doom. i found myself struggling to get through a few parts of it, but i think im glad that i did?
