A fun page turner with some interesting ideas and world building. Overall I enjoyed it, but had a few complaints: it's got a lot of cliché tropes; the mythology is kind of confused and I'm not sure it'll really hold together; it needed a much better editor to make sure that the appropriate vocabulary was being used rather than just pretty-sounding words and phrases that don't really mean what they're intended to. That said, I may still read the sequel.
