Fun spooky book! Should have saved it for Christmas time, but the holiday isn’t a particularly central part of the plot. This was a fun-enough ride, but overall lacks thoughtful writing. For instance, “He gathered her to him in his big arms. She pounded his chest with her small fist, but there was no power in it.” Has this… ever happened? This book was riddled with little phrases and scenarios like this that make it clear it’s written by a man who has dedicated little time to writing well rounded female characters (or perhaps just isn’t very good at it). Overall this is a good time killer, while you wait for the good books to become available from your holds at the library.
