“Though the whole thing should be archaic and wrong, it worked.”
The 2nd book of the Selection series. America passed the Selection and is now part of the Elite, but she is still torn between Maxon and Aspen. Out of sight, out of mind is really applicable for America. Whenever she is with one of them, she is convinced that she only loves that guy. Very frustrating! I was very happy to see that Aspen finally found a purpose in life and at the same time I was frustrated that he was willing to risk that all for America.

I dare say Maxon is my favourite character. He is such a sweet guy and very respectful towards women. He wants to give America his undivided attention and love. He is usually taken for granted. It is so normal for him to give gifts to others, that almost nobody ever thinks of giving him anything.

We also get to know more about the past and the rebels. The rebels attacked the palace several times but it somehow felt really off and unbelievable. What is their purpose and why can’t they be stopped?

This book was not as good as the first one, but I am eager to read the rest of the books!
