A magical wizarding school, a bizarre and grisly death, and a mystery start to this detective novel. When one of the teachers at the school is found murdered in the library, the school would like a quick resolution. However, things are not what they seem. First, they hire a down-on-her-luck detective with no magical powers, but her sister is a magical teacher there. This opens up more wounds than it solves mysteries, but the heart of the entire story resides in that connection.

Typically, private detective work involves a lot of dirty work. Who is lying to their insurance company, or who is cheating her his wife? It's the perfect noir entry into this Harry Potteresque world. Born without magical powers, her sister is the e star of the family. Resentful of her powers nad winding, she is so powerful, why did not see their mother from cancer? Dealing with snot-nosed wizards and handsome teachers may be too much. But to underestimate this detective would be a  mistake.

Love the noir meets Harry Potery vibe, very sad ending.
