I really wanted to love this book and it had a a lot of good parts, especially the plot twist.
However I found the world-building a bit simplistic, especially there being two nations left, Russia/Soviet block-coded and US-coded with the first one being eggageratedly unprogressive (ex. not sending women to space) and the second going the opposite direction and being the 'enlightened' one.
There were also some plot holes that could have been explained bythe recordings of previous clones , but weren't always in the text, so it left me a bit confused at times.
While there is a romantic component, I wouldn't really call it a romance book.
There are a lot of strong and beautifully written moments in the story, but I just didn't feel like it was consistent enough.
