This is a difficult book to rate. Partly because the MCs don't necessarily appear to be "nice guys". In fact the whole cast of characters either have issues, are damaged in some way, and have enormous amounts of baggage that they carry. Most of them either have a drinking problem, anger management issues, or are just assholes, lol. However, they might not conform to what a lot of characters in books are like but they stand on their own. T.A. Moore always does a fantastic job of making you invest in her characters, even if you don't particularly like them at first. And both Boyd and Morgan grew on me and I was rooting for both of them towards the end.

The other thing that makes me wonder about what rating to give this, is that it seems to be unfinished. Yes our guys get a HFN, but there are gaps in a lot of the other elements that make up this story. Not quite a cliff hanger, but also not a solid wrapping up of it all. Now it is the first book of a series, and I can only hope that the next one ties up some of these loose ends and perhaps even a HEA at the end of it all.
