Saevus Cortex Gets Away With Murder is very much a K.J. Parker book, but it's also K.J. Parker at his best. Witty dialogue and detailed minutiae go a long way to making the world feel real. With many writers (myself included) I get the sense that they wrote about stuff they didn't reeeally understand, so they didn't know how much research they had to do. Not so for K.J. Parker. Whether he's describing military tactics or geography, political intrigue or murder, I feel like I can inherently trust everything he says.
Perhaps not the intended point of a book so fraught with betrayal.

Brilliant conclusion to the trilogy.  I can't wait for the next K.J. Parker series.
