The overarching theme of this graphic novel focuses on Black hair-how it is used to express oneself, how others within and outside the Black community view Black hair, and experiences within the Black hair salon. Between the stories are hair ads that mimic the ridiculous promises current hair ads have.
As my first graphic novel I have read as an adult, I felt this book was underwhelming. While I like the idea of highlighting stories centered around Black hair, I felt the execution of it to be below par due to the lack of transitions within the stories and details.
