The Splendor by Breeana Shields
5.0
dark emotional mysterious medium-paced

This book was great. A lovely mix of self reflective and magical. I liked how the book took a more introspective conflict to flesh out rather than being a big guns blazing, fight sequence, evil villain, story. The battles were mostly relational and internal, not physical fights, until the end. This did make the book a little anti climatic but the real story wasn’t in the violence. It was in the relationships of the characters. The perspective this book brings on family and sibling relationships is heartbreaking and well explored. I also loved the romance aspect of the book, but I liked that it focuses so much on the emotional connection between the characters and not so much the physical or attraction between them. It was overall a refreshing, heartfelt story that offered a sweet romance and familial connection.
