Not If I Save You First by Ally Carter

5.0

I'm always looking for new books to add to my "If you liked ____, than you'll love ____" repitoire. It came at the perfect time, too, as we just read Hatchet as a class. It's Hatchet but with a girly twist, love, and Russian spies. I don't always find myself engaged in middle-grade books, so I was generous with my rating so I can find it easily when I'm looking for a book to recommend to a student in the future.
I appreciate how Carter worked to prove that girly does not equal weak or dumb. We have enough helpless women tropes, I love seeing the girl be the fearless leader and still know all about glitter nail polish.
