Should have been a novella, it was entirely too long and so slow-paced. The only reason I finished it was because I found out Valmont died, but even that wasn’t as satisfying as I wanted it to be. Not sure why this book is marketed as a tale of seduction when almost all of the sexual scenes are rape. Rough start to my goal to read more classics this year.
