An engineer calls her soldier BFF for help when she discovers new aliens in their rebuilt world. Spinoff from Hell Squad - the new gen. Jameson is the leader type - smart, strategic and protective, while Greer is smart, stubborn and savvy. As with Hackett's romances, it's a fast burn with the MCs connecting quickly. Jameson and Greer have pretty good chemistry, and he didn't feel like a copy of his father, though he suffers some of the same insecurity (which...wasn't the greatest).

But I liked their dynamic, and the mix of friendship and romance is balanced nicely. Jameson is very protective though Greer holds her own. There's ass kicking, emotional bonding, steamy times plus alien action - basically the typical Hackett read. It's not deep but it's fun enough.
