The worldbuilding is just as lush and beautifully written as Priory. Glorian's character arc is everything I was hoping for. But there were a few things that I found disappointing.

- There were multiple story elements added that actively undermined the story elements of book one.

- It felt padded out in an attempt to make it as chunky as Priory, which really dragged out not only some of the story lines but also some of the character development.

- It took me most of the way through the book to put my finger on this, but Priory felt like Epic Fantasy with intricate characters included. Fallen Night felt like a book about the intricacies of the characters' lives in an epic fantasy setting. Neither is better than the other, but I wish that tone hadn't switched between books.

This book was beautiful, I wish it hadn't spend so much time trying to foreshadow Priory and allude to what we all knew was going to happen. It should have been more confident standing on its own two feet.
