The writing in this story is just beautiful and at times poetic. I fell in love with the characters & could feel their passion. But I’m not sure what would classify this as a “dark” romance, because even as a kidnapper Adonis was mild in comparison. I mean, how many kidnappers do you know will take you to a doctor because you have headaches? With that said though, I enjoyed him and Delilah together. He was pretty much obsessed & in love from the beginning. She was a spitfire initially but with his kindness and consistency she stumbled into a soft girl life and some healing. They were both what the other needed. Each living a life by other people’s terms, they found true freedom in each other. I do think there was a missed opportunity for some tension building in the story with the Chiara plot line,  but everything wrapped so neatly. I also don’t really like how the brother was handled. For him to be such an integral part of her story, I would have liked to see him (not just the memories of him) woven into the story more.
