The Women
by Kristin Hannah
Pros: thoroughly researched, compassionate. The section in Vietnam is very evocative. Cons (for me personally): some of the social views feel much more "modern-cast-back-to-the-past" in a slightly clunky way, the last half-to-one-third feels more like melodrama when there was already a rich vein of drama to tap.
Graphic: Addiction, Alcoholism, Body horror, Child death, Death, Drug abuse, Genocide, Gore, Gun violence, Mental illness, Miscarriage, Panic attacks/disorders, Suicidal thoughts, Forced institutionalization, Blood, Medical content, Grief, Medical trauma, Car accident, Suicide attempt, Alcohol, War, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Toxic relationship, Vomit, Pregnancy
