This series is dragging. In this volume no one character (with the possible exception of Light) has enough focus on him or her to create any fascination. Even Near and Mello barely feature into it, a little more focus on the rest of the police team. I can only hope that such a dull volume is setting up something marvelous for the ending that can compare with the fascination I had with this series when it was just Light and Ryuk and L. It's been on a downhill slope from the moment we added Misa, Rem, the corporate tangent...
