Ultimately I did not really care for the plot of this.
I think Espinoza has a talent for characterization and interweaving multigenerational POVs. The book was generally well-written, and the unique backdrop of lucha libre added to the intrigue of this book.
Yet the story was just lukewarm. There was a natural build in the exposition that I enjoyed, but the climax and resolution felt a bit unrealistic and rushed. I definitely had to stop and wonder about some plot holes, which took me out of my reading groove.
Alas, I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t love this book as much as I wanted to. The backdrop had much potential but the generational tale itself was a little unoriginal at best. 😬
