Traces of Mercy by Cindy Kelley, Jr. Michael Landon

5.0

I received this book free from Net Galley for my honesty review. This in no way has influenced my opinion of the book.

Traces of Mercy by Michael Landon Jr. and Cindy Kelley is a wonderful Christian novel that I enjoyed reading a lot. I thought the story plot was interesting and it kept me reading from the first page all the way to the end. I cannot wait until the sequel comes out. I enjoyed Mercy’s story and found it very interesting to read.

Mercy doesn’t have any memory of who she is or was. She doesn’t know where she came from or where she was going and that is all she knows. The doctor says she has amnesia and that her memory may come back but it may not. Then she is thrust into the care of the local nunnery where she is given the name Mercy. She is content to be there and help prepare the place for the orphans that are on their way, however she isn’t content with all the rules. Then she meets Rand a man whose kindness captures her heart. He moves her out of the nunnery to his grandmother’s home. Soon afterwards they become engaged and her life couldn’t be any better but she still doesn’t who she is and that still makes her uncomfortable. When one of his friends shows up at their engagement party he brings devastating news that brings her world crashing down around her. She still doesn’t remember who she is but he holds the key to part of her past identity. Will what he has to tell her jar her memory? Will it change things between her and Rand? Or will she be able to find happily ever after?

I really enjoyed Traces of Mercy and I am eagerly awaiting its sequels. I thought it was well written and easy to follow. My only complaints are that the book ended on such a cliffhanger and the wait for the second book is quite a while. Other than that I was very pleased with Traces of Mercy and am glad that I was able to read it. My favorite character was Mercy because she had a lot to overcome and even though she didn’t regain her memory she did the best she could with what she had. I liked Rand but I didn’t like some of his actions in the book. I wonder if we will see him in future installments. I would recommend Traces of Mercy to those who enjoy historical romances with a Christian theme.
