This was a book that got me in the mood to go on holiday, but that was really the only good thing about it.
It's kind of magical realism, as in there is magic which just slots alongside real life without question, but for that reason it was disappointing that it was so short - it would have been cool to see the magic element in more depth/in other scenarios.
The book read like an older man's romantic wish fulfilment and as a young woman myself, I really didn't like that. If the characters had been more developed I might not have minded such a creepy resolution to the plot, but the whole thing was quite simplistic and the female characters (maybe even all the characters) felt two-dimensional.
