The Glass Sentence by S.E. Grove

Cool concept. I think I would have enjoyed it way more at around age 11. The concept made me want to read it, I didn't realize how much of a children's book it is in its writing style until after I'd bought it. The characters are, understandably, immature but it hindered my enjoyment. The plot was interesting (until the end) and the world well(ish) thought out (until the end). Again, I think it would be better for a younger reader.

Also, I am a deep lover of the Golden Compass and sometimes this felt like it was trying to be the Golden Compass and it just isn't.

If you have or are an adventurous 10-14 year old, this book is probably great for you. There are some pieces that might be a bit scary for that age, but it's clearly who this book is meant for and I know that y'all are much less susceptible to the spooky stuff than I was.
