The Lover by Marguerite Duras

3.0

this book has been long in my to-read list, since high school! and finally I've decided to read it. was not disappointed, I understand why it's so famous; it treats sensitive issues in a such beautiful literary way, and it's an autobiography!!
for me, the topic of pathological mothers/ mental illness in parents is always an interesting topic in literature, especially when it's done well. I loved how she was describing her mother the whole book; oscillating between loathing her and pitying her, wanting to kill her and crying bc she can't do much to help her.
just a very nice short read, liked it
