My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh

5.0

i'm not necessarily surprised that this is one of my favourite books of the year because it deals with my favourite theme (mentally ill women,) but I enjoyed it nonetheless. this book definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea, but if you enjoy weird character studies or explorations into the ways that that privilege and femininity and grief intersect, then this book is for you.
my year of rest and relaxation definitely drags in the middle. but the last 70 pages picks up in such an interesting way that it makes you forget all about it.
