The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

4.0

Read this over Labor Day weekend and could not put it down. Was an enveloping read that grabbed my heart, gave it a hug, and then crushed it. I believe the ending is not what I expected and subverts the expectations, but that is not me necessarily saying it was the best (but that is a hot take).

I had no spoilers for this book, and was not anticipating the amount of representation in this novel. I am a straight white woman, so I cannot with full confidence stake any claim that it does a great job representation-wise, but I felt these characters’ stories deeply and fell in love with them. It made me think a lot more about my own biases and twisted perception of others.

Definitely is not the light read I was expecting, but I definitely recommend. Just have some tissues nearby!
