Not Safe for Work
by Nisha J. Tuli
As with most typical workplace “enemies” to lovers, this one didn’t deviate from the “they’re enemies because one of them (usually the FMC), walks way from a disastrous first encounter with unreasonable and unwarranted malice in her heart for the MMC” playbook. Toss in some close proximity (that may or may not include one bed) and undeniable attraction and … you get the picture. I can probably think of a half dozen books that I’ve personally read that this can describe. It’s a tried and true formula that works so long as the characters are engaging and interesting and as long as the story is a good time. This one was a decent time. I had some laughs and I appreciated the FMC being a woman of color engineer dealing with the kinds of things we run into in the workplace. 3.5 stars.
